Kishitei
Ghana’s first ramen bar is a masterclass in the art.
Kishitei doesn’t shout. Tucked behind Japanese noren banners, on a quiet street in Osu, this understated Japanese restaurant is one of Accra’s best-kept secrets. No, it’s the best-kept secret. This is a ramen restaurant, so good that it is almost an emotional experience. This is food made from the heart. You’re here for the ramen, the exceptional ramen, produced from start to finish by chef patron Kahori Kishi (Kishi-Tei means Kishi’s residence in Japanese). Every ingredient is carefully sourced – Kishi believes that food heals. And Kishitei heals the soul. The Chicken Chintan salt is probably as near to a signature ramen, but the cloudy Paitan is deeply rich.
Start with the spectacularly flavourful Nagoya Chicken wings and a side of smashed cucumber. And then book your next trip for something else. The space is compact but charming, with wooden panelling, soft lighting, and low chatter. It feels more like a Tokyo side street than an Accra hotspot. Service is warm, attentive and quietly efficient. A joyful opening for Accra. So, so good.
